We are students from the University of Auckland using our collective skills to offset environmental degradation, allowing future generations to thrive.

Founded in 2016, the Sustainable Future Collective (SFC) has been about 3 core values; collaboration, creativity and climate action. Based at the University of Auckland, SFC has endeavoured to promote sustainability to the student body on the personal lifestyle and professional level.

Ō tātou whanonga nunui: Our key values

  1. Rerenga Kētanga (diversity) - We are a student-led organisation. This means any person, any group is welcome in SFC and has the opportunity to get involved in meaningful action.

  2. Whēako whai pānga-tahi (shared experience) - We are a collective, encouraging feedback and initiatives from our members to create change on our campus.

  3. Auahatanga (creativity) - This is core to the fight against climate change. Constantly, there is a need to rethink and reimagine the ways in which our society operates.

Together, we can create a collective where people, planet and profit become sustainable, can undertake effective change and can improve the health + wellbeing of the people of their whānau.

A better world starts with small steps...

Our roots lie in student life at university, and we wouldn't exist without our studies bringing us together. Our futures, attitudes, knowledge and expertise are somewhat built by our education; education has huge potential in shaping the next generation of young people in being more socially, ethically and environmentally responsible. Our mission is to integrate sustainability into university courses and lectures. Almost everything we can do from our learning can be done greener and smarter. With so many of us, we as students carry the power to be able to improve our curriculum and lead by example worldwide.

If you have any ideas/ways you think would be effective to help UoA transition to become more responsible, get in touch!
